Art on the Map

The brochure for the Art on the Map studio trail for 2011 is now available locally and the website has been updated with all the latest information. This year artists and makers from North to South Uist are opening their studio doors at 20 venues throughout the month of July. Click the venue numbers on the map for more details and see the list of associated events, including workshops, an open mike poetry session and children’s activity days. There’s a lot to choose from – we look forward to seeing you there!

This year’s Art on the Map is taking place from 2nd to 30th July. We’re currently gathering all the information for the studio trail and will publish it on the website in May. Feel free to send us your address if you’d like a brochure, and we’ll be happy to post it to you closer to the time.

Art on the Map 2010 is holding a collective exhibition at the award-winning Taigh Chearsabagh Museum and Arts Centre in Lochmaddy, North Uist. This show is a perfect introduction to the artists and makers and will give you a flavour of what to expect along the trail. Artists and crafts-people have been working hard through the year to be ready to welcome you, turning the Southern Isles into one big art and craft gallery. If you haven’t been before, the talents of our islanders will surprise and delight you, and if you have – you will be interested to see how our artists are developing and what the new artists on the trail have to show. All the exhibitions and studios have free entry and everyone is welcome. Small charges are made for the workshops.
