Sandra Klaassen (The Netherlands, 1959) is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Art and Design in ‘s- Hertogenbosch where she studied graphic art and visual communication.
She is an established and much published illustrator of children’s books and works for several publishers.
Her work has been exhibited during the Bologna Book Fair in Italy and on several occasions in The Netherlands, Japan, Scotland and Brazil.
In 2003 Sandra moved to the Isle of North Uist from where she drew her inspiration for the picture book ‘Uan the Little Lamb’, a story written and illustrated by Sandra, through the eyes of her two young children.
In 2008 she was invited to take part in the Edinburgh International Book Festival. In the same year Dutch Television animated some of her illustrations for a programme about adoption.
Her new picture book (written by Margaret Forrester) will be published in April 2010 and is called ‘My Cat Mac’.
