Art on the Map

The 2013 studio trail is now live! This year, from 29 June to 20 July, local artists and makers will be displaying their work at 23 studios from Berneray to South Uist. An additional 11 venues have year-round or extended opening times and are inviting visitors outwith the three weeks of the summer trail – see the markers with letters on the map.

Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Art Centre is exhibiting local arts and crafts during the trail, and on 18 July a poetry evening will launch the Taigh Chearsabhagh Writers Workshop’s pamphlet of poems and short stories.

Entrance to all venues is free. Look out for the distinctive black and white signs around the islands.

The Art on the Map trail this year is sponsored by Stepping Stone Restaurant, Maclean’s Bakery and Hebridean Smokehouse, indicated by the green dots on the map.

Information about the 2012 Art on the Map open studio trail in Uist is now available! This year marks the tenth anniversary of the event and we would love you to help us celebrate by joining in. From 2nd to 23rd June, artists and makers are inviting you to view their work at various locations from North Uist to South Uist. There’s also an arts and crafts exhibition at Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Art Centre, a sand sculpture competition at Hougharry beach on 4 June and a poetry evening on 14 June. We look forward to seeing you there!

The brochure for the Art on the Map studio trail for 2011 is now available locally and the website has been updated with all the latest information. This year artists and makers from North to South Uist are opening their studio doors at 20 venues throughout the month of July. Art on the Map 2010 is holding a collective exhibition at the award-winning Taigh Chearsabagh Museum and Arts Centre in Lochmaddy, North Uist. This show is a perfect introduction to the artists and makers and will give you a flavour of what to expect along the trail. Artists and crafts-people have been working hard through the year to be ready to welcome you, turning the Southern Isles into one big art and craft gallery. If you haven’t been before, the talents of our islanders will surprise and delight you, and if you have – you will be interested to see how our artists are developing and what the new artists on the trail have to show. All the exhibitions and studios have free entry and everyone is welcome. Small charges are made for the workshops.
